Venetian Plaster

Layered depth and a burnished sheen, brought to life through skilled application.

We apply Venetian plaster to give interior walls layered color, depth and a stone like character. Thin coats and careful finishing shape the surface; burnishing brings out its sheen. For a feature wall or a complete room, the craft lies in how those details work together.

The character of Venetian plaster

Venetian plaster describes a range of decorative plaster finishes. Traditional versions use lime and marble aggregate, while modern formulations vary. We identify the chosen product and its preparation, application and care requirements for your project.

The written scope states whether a decorative finish uses a PCA P19 sample board or mockup and, when agreed, a PCA P5 full on site benchmark. See how we define samples and finished work.

Give the architecture depth

Dining rooms, entries and bedroom features give decorative plaster a place to define the space. We review the intended finish with designers, contractors and homeowners. Kitchens, bathrooms and other exposed areas require a product and surface suited to those conditions.

Build the finish in layers

We establish a suitable base, apply thin layers and finish the surface to develop the selected effect. The plaster system determines the number of coats, drying intervals and burnishing method. Those steps are part of the scope and schedule.

Refine the texture and sheen

Physical samples establish the direction, from a quieter surface to a more polished effect. Review them in the room, where daylight and evening lighting reveal the movement and sheen. This is where the finish connects to the rest of the design.

Scope and estimate

Wall condition, preparation, surface area and the selected effect determine the scope. We review the estimate and finish samples with you before application.

Questions

Planning your project.

Review the preparation, finish and care requirements. For guidance on your project, talk with our team.

How long does Venetian plaster last?
Longevity depends on the product, substrate, application and exposure. We provide care guidance for the selected finish and can assess wear or damage if it develops.
Can you clean Venetian plaster?
Cleaning depends on the plaster and any protective finish. Follow the selected manufacturer’s guidance. We discuss the level of care and the room’s use before recommending a system.
How long does installation take?
Preparation, the number of layers, drying intervals and site conditions determine the schedule. We confirm the expected work sequence once the surface and finish have been selected.
Which rooms suit Venetian plaster?
Entries, dining rooms and bedroom feature walls are good starting points. Bathrooms and other areas with moisture exposure need a product specific assessment before choosing a finish.
How do matte and burnished plaster finishes compare?
Matte finishes offer soft movement with little reflection, while burnishing can bring sheen and depth to a suitable plaster. Formulation, application and care vary by product. We compare samples of the specified finishes with you.
